First, this attack was not just on Google. As part of our investigation we have discovered that at least twenty other large companies from a wide range of businesses–including the Internet, finance, technology, media and chemical sectors–have been similarly targeted. We are currently in the process of notifying those companies, and we are also working with the relevant U.S. authorities.

Second, we have evidence to suggest that a primary goal of the attackers was accessing the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists. Based on our investigation to date we believe their attack did not achieve that objective. Only two Gmail accounts appear to have been accessed, and that activity was limited to account information (such as the date the account was created) and subject line, rather than the content of emails themselves.

Third, as part of this investigation but independent of the attack on Google, we have discovered that the accounts of dozens of U.S.-, China- and Europe-based Gmail users who are advocates of human rights in China appear to have been routinely accessed by third parties. These accounts have not been accessed through any security breach at Google, but most likely via phishing scams or malware placed on the users’ computers.

We have already used information gained from this attack to make infrastructure and architectural improvements that enhance security for Google and for our users. In terms of individual users, we would advise people to deploy reputable anti-virus and anti-spyware programs on their computers, to install patches for their operating systems and to update their web browsers. Always be cautious when clicking on links appearing in instant messages and emails, or when asked to share personal information like passwords online. We have taken the unusual step of sharing information about these attacks with a broad audience not just because of the security and human rights implications of what we have unearthed, but also because this information goes to the heart of a much bigger global debate about freedom of speech. In the last two decades, China’s economic reform programs and its citizens’ entrepreneurial flair have lifted hundreds of millions of Chinese people out of poverty. Indeed, this great nation is at the heart of much economic progress and development in the world today.

We launched Google.cn in January 2006 in the belief that the benefits of increased access to information for people in China and a more open Internet outweighed our discomfort in agreeing to censor some results. At the time we made clear that “we will carefully monitor conditions in China, including new laws and other restrictions on our services. If we determine that we are unable to achieve the objectives outlined we will not hesitate to reconsider our approach to China.”

These attacks and the surveillance they have uncovered–combined with the attempts over the past year to further limit free speech on the web–have led us to conclude that we should review the feasibility of our business operations in China. We have decided we are no longer willing to continue censoring our results on Google.cn, and so over the next few weeks we will be discussing with the Chinese government the basis on which we could operate an unfiltered search engine within the law, if at all. We recognize that this may well mean having to shut down Google.cn, and potentially our offices in China.

The decision to review our business operations in China has been incredibly hard, and we know that it will have potentially far-reaching consequences. We want to make clear that this move was driven by our executives in the United States, without the knowledge or involvement of our employees in China who have worked incredibly hard to make Google.cn the success it is today. We are committed to working responsibly to resolve the very difficult issues raised.

BEIJING — Google is checking whether any of its China staff helped hackers lead a major cyberattack against the US Internet giant, which is now mulling whether to leave the country, a report said Tuesday.

The Wall Street Journal, citing unidentified sources, said the internal network access of some of Google’s 700-odd employees in China had been cut off for the duration of the internal investigation.

It was not immediately clear if Google had found evidence to link any of its China-based staff to either the theft of its intellectual property or alleged attempts to access Gmail accounts of Chinese dissidents.

Google said Monday it was “business as usual” in China and its employees were at work, after local media reports that some staff had seen their access to Google’s global network cut off and could no longer work.

The company last week announced it was considering abandoning its Chinese search engine, and could shut its China offices, over theft of its intellectual property by hackers, believed to have been based in China.

Google says it is no longer willing to bow to Chinese Internet censors by filtering search results on google.cn, but is still seeking talks with Beijing on a solution.

The United States has asked for an explanation from Beijing over the Google dispute. China says the row will not affect Sino-US ties, but has also insisted that Google and other foreign Internet firms must obey its laws.

The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of China said Monday that expatriate journalists in a “few” bureaus in Beijing had discovered that their Gmail accounts had been hacked, with messages forwarded to a stranger’s account.

Resources Used: Sony Answers Wii Remote with PlayStation Move

Nitendo Wii, with the famous Wii Remote, which allows direct 3D manipulation of game elements. It uses a bar sensor in the remote to do its job.

Sony has come up with something better — PlayStation Move. PlayStation Move is Sony’s answer to Nitendo’s Wii Remote and Microsoft’s Project Natal for Xbox 360. PlayStation Move is the way to use motion to play video games instead of (or at least in addition to) buttons.

The controller was originally announced at the E3 interactive entertainment conference last year, but it was not named. Since then people have called it the PlayStation motion controller. But now it’s good to have a name even though it is a straightforward one.

Move is most probably launching in fall of 2010. Sony plans to charge less that $100 for a package including Move. The main advantage of Move over The Wii Remote is that it’s far more accurate that Wii remote. So Move will be the best choice for 3D motion detection in difficult games, and Wii Remote will be fine for casual gamers who enjoy party games.

The sensor controller will be accompanied by an attachment with an analog stick, just like the nunchuk that Wii owners attach to their Wii remotes.

Move will be supported by new games Ape Escape, Echochrome 2 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, plus old games LittleBigPlanet, Flower and Resident Evil 5. Others are planned too including several made specifically for the controller: boxing game Dukes, family party game Move Party,, high-def sports suite Sports Champions, Kung Fu game Slider and shooter The Shoot.

Sony with their PlayStation Move seem to be well-prepared in the 3D revolution (of game consoles). It seems PlayStation Move, Wii Remote and Project Natal are in for an epic battle of the tech lords where each company will be battling to get the maximum number of customers.

2010 seems to be one of the mile stones in the advancement of technologies and the adoption of 3D over 2D. Who knows, we may even ditch 3D for the ultimate 4D experience (doesn’t exist yet).

Anti Tables is a web development website very less known to the world. I, Aaron Stone had gotten a chance to become a guest writer for Anti Tables. But then I tried to hack their server so they fired me. But all those stories aside, Anti Tables is a Self-Hosted WordPress Blog, which according to the name says that using tables in websites is a crime and CSS is the best technology to replace this crime.

Anti Tables was founded originally by James White. James is a computer-enthusiast and also has his personal blog — James’ Blog . But he claims that since Andrew Turner, his friend and a freelance developer, helps so much in the creation of the website that James, he is also being recognized as the founder.

Anti Tables has currently not been updated for about 6 months, I think the founders have no guest writers and they are busy with their personal life. So Anti Tables is no longer a source for articles or most of the articles planned are still in draft and aren’t accessible by the public.

Google Chrome OS has been abandoned — it has been left and new topics have emerged. Therefore Google Chrome OS has been developing under the hood and after it is ready, it will blow the internet satellites away. It will increase the revenue of the ISP’s and they will become billionaires. All because of Google Chrome OS.

The potential of Google Chrome OS is being neglected. This is not a good sign for Google and they must proceed swiftly as well as intelligently.
